Cafe Crip is a monthly gathering to talk about important topics within our disability communities. This month’s theme is Anti-Capitalism in Practice. In Disability Justice, we talk about having an Anti-Capitalist politic – and we all want that. But how do we do it when we are living in capitalism-forced poverty and fighting constant oppression? We’re talking practical solutions and empathizing about the trade-offs we’re forced to make to survive. We send readings in advance, but they are optional, and there will be plenty of opportunities to jump in if your capacity doesn’t allow for reading them. Facilitator Bianca Laureano leads the group through community agreements and access principles to ensure everyone can join this informal community-building hangout.

About Bianca
Bianca I. Laureano is an award-winning educator, curriculum writer, and sexologist. She is a co-foundress of the Women of Color Sexual Health Network and ANTE UP! a virtual freedom school. She has written curricula and led the curriculum development for the award-winning Netflix film Crip Camp and PBS documentary I Didn’t See You There, both guided by disability justice principles. She is an AASECT certified sexuality educator and supervisor and was awarded an honorary doctorate from the California Institute for Integral Studies for her work in expanding the US sexuality field.
