Event Description: Seeking ways to enhance your writing? Come join us as we welcome Dr. Pau Abustan and Dr. Shayda Kafai in September for Queer Crip Mad Storytelling. They will be facilitating our Crip Writers Collective where they will offer participants five queer, crip, Mad strategies for writing inspired by Sins Invalid’s 10 Principles of Disability Justice. Come and develop your writing toolkit!
ABOUT THE FACILITATORS
Dr. Pau Abustan, Ph.D. (they/siya) is an Assistant Professor of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Cal State Los Angeles. Their research connects disability justice worldmaking in youth learning and youth centered animated storytelling to youth led activisms. Their recent journal articles are featured in Cultural Studies Lateral and Research in Arts and Education.
Dr. Shayda Kafai (she/her) is an Associate Professor in the Ethnic and Women’s Studies Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She is the author of Crip Kinship: The Disability Justice Art Activism of Sins Invalid and is the co-editor of Mad Scholars: Reclaiming and Reimagining the Neurodiverse Academy.
