Event Description
REV UP is a program from the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) with the mission to build power of the disability vote through increasing civic engagement in the disability community and improving the accessibility of elections. REV UP stands for “Register, Educate, Vote, Use your Power!”
Although REV UP is a national movement, we believe change happens at the local level. We are hosting a REV UP Bay Area meet and greet Thursday January 29, 2026 at 330 pm. Join virtually over zoom or in person in Oakland. This is a great place to meet others who are interested in building the power of the disability vote.
Our work includes:
1. Voter Outreach: registering and supporting disabled voters in the community and in congregate settings.
2. Increasing Election Accessibility: from legislative advocacy to monitoring polling places to building relationships with local elected officials.
3. Fighting Voter Suppression: showing up for our rights from the statehouse to the courthouse.
4. Building Civic Engagement: covering local leaders, creating resources, distributing grants to support grassroots work.
5. Grow Visibility: hosting nonpartisan candidate forums on disability, engaging with campaigns.

An in-person gathering will be held in the Restore building in Oakland. Ramps, elevator, and gender neutral bathrooms available. Masks required and HEPA filter will be running in space. Additional access requests welcome.
