Disabled people make incredible parents. Yeah, it’s a blanket statement, but it’s a cozy blanket because it’s true. It doesn’t matter if the relationship is biological, foster, adoptive, or chosen; we are uniquely prepared to meet our children as whole people from day one. It’s that magical affirmation and unconditional love that we give freely because we know the value of every single body, mind, emotion, thought, and action. To keep it real though, the physical, mental, and emotional demands of raising a human, let alone in an ableist world – it’s a lot. Let’s talk about it all – let’s feel the warmth of community, let’s normalize everything, and let’s remind each other that we’re doing a great job. Join Yomi Young, Elliot Kukla, Robin Wilson-Beattie, and Eli Gelardin as they discuss the topsy-turvy life that is becoming and being a parent.
