Cafe Crip is a monthly gathering to talk about important topics within our disability communities. In July, we’re digging into Pleasure Activism. Author of the book “Pleasure Activism,” adrienne marie brown, teaches that “pleasure is a measure of freedom.” Let’s talk about creating pleasure for ourselves and in our communities, and how this radical act frees us and brings us back to the people we were born to be. We send readings in advance, but they are optional, and there will be plenty of opportunities to jump in if your capacity doesn’t allow for reading them. Facilitator Bianca Laureano leads the group through community agreements and access principles to ensure everyone can join this informal community-building hangout.
For this conversation, we recommend listening to, watching, or reading the transcript of Disability + Pleasure Activism, a conversation between adrienne marie brown, Claudia Alick, Alice Wong, and Abby Yim.
