Cafe Crip: Pets and Animals

DCC Hosted

ASL | CART | Virtual

Cafe Crip is a monthly gathering to talk about important topics within our disability communities. Our May session will discuss the beauty and complexity of our relationships with pets and animals. Animals can offer pure love, complete acceptance, safety, and no-strings-attached support. Regardless of their joys though–it’s hard work to train, care for, and afford animal companions. Plus, there are the memes. Lots to unpack there. We send readings in advance, but they are optional, and there will be plenty of opportunities to participate even if you haven’t read them. Facilitator Bianca Laureano leads the group through community agreements and access principles to ensure everyone can join this informal community-building hangout. Fur baby cameos are encouraged.
