Communications and Outreach Coordinator

Position: Communications and Outreach Coordinator

Type: Full-time, 30 hours/week, 0.75 FTE. One-year contract with the possibility of extension.

Compensation: $52,500-$60,000, extra language compensation for fluent ASL, Spanish, Cantonese, and/or Mandarin if used as part of the position.

Overview:

The San Francisco Disability Cultural Center is hiring a Communications and Outreach Coordinator to oversee our online presence and community outreach efforts, ensuring effective communication and engagement across platforms. This is a fully-benefitted, 30 hours/week, .75FTE in-person position in San Francisco with regular evening and weekend hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Design and Creation:

    • Create digital content in using our branding
    • Write regular newsletters and blogs to keep our audience informed about upcoming events and initiatives.
    • Oversee video content creation to promote events and engage our audience (editing experience not required).
  • Digital Platform Management:
    • Develop and implement communications strategy to boost engagement.
    • Responsible for all content across platforms, including image descriptions and alt text.
    • Manage and moderate our Discord community, facilitating conversations and promoting events.
    • Post videos on our YouTube channel, ensuring captions are added for accessibility.
    • Help update the website and add events to the community calendar.
  • Event and Partner Outreach:
    • Share events with other groups and channels to increase visibility and participation.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with organizations and communities.
    • Maintain and update our outreach database, tracking contacts and engagement metrics.
    • Work to educate people about the DCC in underrepresented communities in San Francisco.
  • Additional Tasks:
    • Help running events and access.
    • Data entry.
    • Front desk support: Greeting people, check-ins, supporting with access needs, and member sign-ups at the physical DCC space at 165 Grove St.
    • Perform other related tasks as needed with the DCC team.

Required Qualifications:

  • In-depth experience working on organizational communication, graphics, strategy, and execution.
  • Graphic design – must be able to create attractive, on-brand, accurate professional assets with efficiency and ease.
  • Tech-savvy – learn and effectively use multiple software platforms for communication, project management, and data-tracking.
  • Strong English language communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with communication platforms such as Discord, Bluesky, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Personal or professional experience with disability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in ASL highly desired.
  • Knowledge of and relationships with Bay Area disability organizations.
  • Proficiency with video editing, Zoom, Salesforce, html, Campaign Monitor, Canva, and Notion.
  • Expertise in bringing access to graphic design (fonts, alt text, etc.)
  • Events coordination experience.
