Cafe Crip: Emergency Preparation

DCC Hosted

ASL | Virtual

Cafe Crip is a monthly gathering to talk about important topics within our disability communities. In May, we’re discussing Emergency Preparedness. We all see it happening – we have fire seasons now, year-long droughts followed by massive floods, and we keep racking up record temperatures. With all these emergencies, we are often the ones most affected and the most neglected by the plans. It’s nothing new – we have us. We have always had us, and we will always have us. So, let’s get together and talk about how we can prepare, have each other’s backs, and assure our own survival. We send readings in advance, but they are optional, and there will be plenty of opportunities to jump in if your capacity doesn’t allow for reading them. Facilitator Bianca Laureano leads the group through community agreements and access principles to ensure everyone can join this informal community-building hangout.
